雅思听力考试中，听前读题时间对考试成功与否往往起着至关重要的作用。如何才能最有效利用这有限的时间做出合理的预测？

　　笔者在反复的雅思教学中摸索出一种不错的解决办法——逆向思维解题法（“反其道而思之”），发散性逆向思考已知信息，确定所提问题的答案的必要条件，推测说话人会提及的两种或多种可能性，从而有效避免“先入为主”型错误，排除混淆信息，缩小选择范围或直接锁定正确答案。

　　本文将会从剑桥真题4--‐8 中选取典型实例，全面展示逆向思维解题法在时间、条件、数量、关联词等限定词方面的具体应用。

　　1.时间

　　① Cambridge 4 Test 3 Section 1

　　Q3 Present course ________ English

　　解决填空题除推测所填词的词性和词类外，还应意识到潜在的含义，预知说话人将会提及的相关信息。一般，同学们都能推测出所填词应为形容词，而且因为是course“课程”所以还得考虑大写的问题，但却往往会忽略present。既然题目不仅仅是问course，那present就有存在的意义和目的。顺着这个思路就应想到说话人会提到past或是future，形成时间上的对立性。

　　原文：I was studying General English in Adelaide and now I’m doing Academic English…

　　② Cambridge 4 Test 3 Section 2

　　Q11 When is this year’s festival being held?

　　A 1-13 January

　　B 5-17 January

　　C 25-31 January

　　做选择题关键是得找对关键词。这个单选题中的关键词是……when?可三个选项都是时间。Festival?可它是整篇报道的中心。Being held?太抽象，不是明确信息。确立this year为关键词的理由很明确，既然是要确定今年的举办的时间，那录音中必定会提及去年或是以前的情况，这样的逆向思维让解题思路更加清楚。

　　原文：… for the last couple of years it’s been around the fifth to seventeenth, but this year … they’ve put it at the end of the month.

　　③ Cambridge6 Test 2 Section 2

　　Qs 18-20 Which THREE attractions can you visit at present by train from Trebirch?

　　A a science museum

　　B a theme park

　　C a climbing wall

　　D a mining museum

　　E an aquarium

　　F a castle

　　G a zoo

　　对于选项多达七个的多项选择题很多同学往往会不知所措，因为一般情况下这些选项在录音中都会被提及，于是排除法成为首选，但以什么为排除的依据呢?“at present”为解题给出了提示，凡是过去或是将来才能去的景点项目就可以排除。逆向思维的应用巧妙排除了混淆信息，缩小选择范围。

　　原文：… you can … in the zoo, which is set in the parkland that used to surround the old castle; … climbing wall built on the site on the old aquarium; … the science museum opensnext year …

　　2.条件

　　① Cambridge 5 Test 2 Section 1

　　Q3 Cost to join per year(without current student card): _________

　　Q4 Number of items allowed(members of public):__________

　　这两题括号中的限定条件是逆向思维的可能性和必要性。Q3的括号里明确指出 “没有学生证”，其隐含意思就是学生入会的年费的收费标准不一样;Q4 的括号里也有备注“普通民众”，意味着学生能借书的数额会被提及。其实，还可以再往前走一步。“没有学生证”的人入会的费用肯定高，而“普通民众”可借书的数额通常小。于是，这两题就被简化成Q3大数、Q4小数。

　　原文：… it’s free for students here but otherwise it’s ￡125 per year or ￡25 if you got a current student card…

　　原文：… we allow 12 items if you’re a student … it’s only 8 items for members of the public.

　　② Cambridge 5 Test4 Section 1

　　Q3 Intended length of stay: _________

　　题目中的关键词应为intended，而不是length of stay，因为如果只是问“待多久”，根本不需要intended这个词。Intended意为“计划、想要”，与“实际情况”形成语意对立。遵循逆向思维便可预知说话人会提及她实际所待时间。

　　原文：I’m planning on staying a year but at the moment I’m definitely here for four months only.

　　③ Cambridge 5 Test1 Section 1

　　Qs 5-6 Which TWO things are included in the price of the tour?

　　A fishing trip

　　B guided bushwalk

　　C reptile park entry

　　D table tennis

　　选项为简单短语的多选题的所有选项在录音中通常都会被提及，排除法虽繁琐但却是最有效的方法。但问题是题目中并没有明确的排除条件信息。逆向思维为解题提供隐性的排除条件——所有要自己花钱的项目都可以排除。

　　原文：… fishing trip. That’s on an extra $12; … a reptile park … that costs more or less the same; … tennis… you have to pay for those buy the hour…

　　3.数量

　　① Cambridge 5 Test 2 Section 1

　　Q5 Fines start at￡__________

　　题目中的关键词是start at，要确定最低罚款金额。可运用逆向思维合理预测speaker 会提到最高罚款金额，从而形成一种数量上的对立。如果能在听前做出足够的预测，听时就能从容排除混淆信息。

　　原文：The minimum fine is￡1.50 but it can be … up to￡5 per week.

　　② Cambridge 4 Test 4 Section 1

　　Q5 Suggested amount per person $________

　　该题需要找出的是每人所缴费的数额，不难想到听力原文必会提及所缴总额。

　　原文：… we suggested $6 last time … which should leave us with about $90.

　　③ Cambridge 4 Test 4 Section 4

　　Q37 The average number of sharks meshing in nets each year is

　　A 15

　　B 150

　　C 1500

　　题目中的关键词锁定为average，所给的三个选项又存在一定的相似性，这些都表明这题听到的对应信息不是单一的，必须果断排除混淆信息，而总量与均量的对立成为判断的标准。

　　原文：… approximately fifty hundred sharks was caught in the first year, however, … average annual catch has been only about one hundred fifty.

　　4.关联词

　　其实，有些题的题目中并没有明显的或是隐藏的能运用逆向思维的条件，但在听力录音中却有，往往是通过某些关联词实现。一般说来，如果选择题中的两个选项先后都有听到，且存在并列或选择关系，则两项都排除。

　　① Cambridge 4 Test 3 Section 2

　　Q14 Where does Circus Romano perform?

　　A in a theatre

　　B in a tent

　　C in a stadium

　　原文：It … performing in a marquee … rather than just in a theatre or stadium.

　　听力原文中给出的直接信息是Romano马戏团在marquee中演出，但极少有同学知道这个单词的意思。Speaker 随后提到演出地点rather than“而不是”theater 或是 stadium，也就是说剧场和体育馆都应该被排除，反过来说，就能确定正确答案应为B，也就明白marquee是tent之意。

　　② Cambridge 8 Test1 Section 2

　　Qs 19-20 Which TWO activities can students do after the tour at present?

　　A built model dinosaurs

　　B watch films

　　C draw dinosaurs

　　D find dinosaur eggs

　　E play computer games

　　原文：… more interactive things like making models of dinosaurs and drawing and painting pictures, even hunting for dinosaur eggs …that’s closed at the moment.

　　该多选题中选项A、C和D在听力原文中都被提及，并列连词and、even表面三者之间存在并列关系，属于“同进同出”范畴，要么同时被选，要么同时被排除。而根据后面的时间条件that’s closed at the moment，确定这三项活动目前都不能进行，进而排除。

　　综上所述，雅思考试听前读题时应用心发现题目中明显的或隐含的时间、条件、数量、关联词等限定信息，运用逆向思维合理预测说话人可能提及的相关信息的多种可能性，有效避免混淆信息的影响，从而实现信息的准确把握。

　　笔者认为，雅思听力的思考方式和解题方式必须摆脱某些现有模式或固有套路的限制，在教学中鼓励和激发学生从新的视角审视、思考问题，切不能在题海中忘记了雅思考试的初衷。
